"Fresh, fresher and freshest!" That is the message that chimes through the air at Pikes Peak Ice Cream & Gelato. As a family-run business and unlike other ice cream stores that look to continually cut corners to save money, Pikes Peak Ice Cream & Gelato continually looks for the freshest ingredients possible. The benefit of utilizing local fruits, nuts and dairy products is two-fold, namely supporting local community businesses and ensuring that our ice cream and gelato ingredients are as fresh as possible. Our fresh ice cream base comes from cows that were literally milked just days earlier. Many of the fruits and nuts from local farmers were picked just a day or so before arriving at our store. We take all of these fresh ingredients to HAND-CREATE our ice creams, sorbettos and gelatos! All ingredients are hand-folded into every small batch that we make. As an additional step to ensure quality, consistent ice cream and gelato flavors, we have just two ice cream chefs that make every single batch.

When buying ice cream, remember that most companies pump as much air (also called 'overrun') into their ice cream as possible. That is why cheaper ice cream feels lighter than heavier, denser ice cream. The more air that the company pumps into that ice cream, the more volume they can create which equates to more profitability for the company. Many companies produce ice cream with over 100% injected air (or overrun). Pikes Peak Ice Cream & Gelato creates their ice cream & gelato with one of the lowest overruns of any ice cream company in the US today.

As an environmental steward, Pikes Peak Ice Cream & Gelato utilizes many best management practices in consideration of preserving our fragile environment. Opportunities to reduce the amount of plastics used in the ice cream and gelato manufacturing process have been employed incuding the use of metal ice cream and gelato display pans rather than disposable, plastic pans. Where possible, we use paper drink and ice cream containers to reduce plastic waste. During store build-out we had our store signage designed using low voltage LED lighting versus the traditional, power-hungry outside signs.

Frequently our customers love to come in, get an ice cream or latte, and sit down and talk to us about our business. As owners, we are present in our store each and every day. As a locally-owned and family-run business, we have developed very simple goals...goals that are not based on achieving certain levels of sales or profitability. When asked, we share our goal for Pikes Peak Ice Cream & Gelato which is to be the # 1 ice cream and gelato store in Colorado!
